Huter: The Video of the Murder Shows Just How Weak Today’s Montenegro Really Is

Oskar Huter, a representative of the Democratic Party of Socialists, spoke to Antena M about the video of Igor Nedović’s murder in Podgorica, which was posted yesterday on an unregistered website.

“The public already knows what kind of media outlet this is, but I’d call it an abyss of journalism – in every sense of the word. They reject professional and ethical standards, ignore the journalists’ code, and blatantly disregard the law. This website perfectly illustrates the weakness of today’s Montenegro: they’re allowed to spread fascist views, turn extremely sensitive footage of murders and suicides into so-called ‘exclusive’ content, and pass judgment before the courts do, or completely ignore the courts, as we recently saw in the case of denying the Srebrenica genocide”, Huter said.

He added that none of this would be surprising if we weren’t seeing similar posts for years across much of the Serbian media, where exclusive footage of Montenegrin tragedies is regularly published, apparently provided by collaborators within local security services.

“I wouldn’t say it’s logical, even though we know that at one point both CEDIS and Elektroprivreda provided financial support to them. But I also can’t say I’m surprised – because it is, at the very least, telling. Maybe this is exactly that so-called ‘reconciliation’ that the Democrats and their allies have spoken about countless times, alongside endless talk of honor and integrity”, Huter asked rhetorically.

He emphasized that this is a mouthpiece – or rather, a group of pseudo-journalists and falsifiers of Montenegrin history – who, without a shred of ethics, scruples, or professionalism, are diligently working to undermine the lives, dignity, and identity of Montenegrin citizens and the Montenegrin nation.

“The state – meaning its institutions, if we still have any – must find a way to stop this systematic undermining we witness every day from this and similar sites. For now, it seems enough to have a column on IN4S to be considered worthy of the July 13th Award. You don’t even need to publish a book anymore. We are on the wrong path”, Huter concluded.
