Serbian Hijacking of a Montenegrin Prize – The DF Show

Last night’s gathering at Villa Gorica felt more like a Chetnik rally than a literary event. They came together to talk about Serbian literature, to present Montenegrin rulers and writers as Serbs, to sing Montenegrin songs as though they were Serbian, and to sermonize about “reconciliation.” The usual sorrowful routine. The sky seemed to darken under all those priestly caps, black as their consciences. Not a single Montenegrin minister, diplomat, or public figure was present. You didn’t even hear the word Montenegrin spoken.

Illiteracy, vulgarity, and cultural emptiness revealed the true face of this dismal event, as did the blood-and-soil ideology lurking behind it. The award recipient, introduced as a prominent Serbian writer (despite glaring issues with grammar, style, and even basic sentence construction), read verses in which he hoped that “God would help him differently: either by exile or by hanging”. Hanging whom, exactly?

Bećir tried to sound profound, tried to lecture, clearly believed in his brilliance – but in the end, he was just Bećir. Poor man. It can’t be easy.

The occupation-style ceremony carried on while, just outside, peaceful citizens were being pepper-sprayed, beaten, shoved, pushed back, and left waiting far too long for medical aid.

Our poor Njegoš – dragged through these debates for years, constantly threatened with “relocation” – was quoted again last night. His uncle, Saint Peter of Cetinje, was mentioned too. But as always, their words were twisted and misused, because that’s the only way these people know.

A large pear sticks easily in the throat”. And that’s exactly what will happen to you – false prophets and self-styled peacemakers, protected by police and soldiers. You can invoke God all you want – He has nothing to do with any of this. You bow only to your handlers and patrons. You don’t even know what shame is.
