Prosecutors’ Day: Non-Paper, Non-Director, Non-Doctor

Raonić’s house of cards is collapsing at RTCG, where the management team is made up of nobodies and dead weight. What started as a carefully arranged game of bridge, playing with everyone while hiding your hand from all, has now devolved into a childish game of donkeys. The only question left is: who’ll be the first to throw down their cards and run from Raonić’s illegitimate reign? And from Spuž prison, of course!

By the end of the day yesterday, the European Union dropped a “non-paper” that hit the RTCG management like a slap in the face. Perfect timing.

Veselin on “Link”

The "doctor of something", who barely remembers how he even got the title, once again made an appearance on Link. He always shows up there when things go sideways at the Council. This time, the editing was to blame. There’s no money for high school students... and apparently, there won’t be any from sponsors either. Instead, they’ll shuffle funds from one place to another, Veselin muttered while nervously waving his hands. So, Raonić has a fluid budget, and the associate professor signs off on it.

Surely there’s room to pinch a little from the funds earmarked for the construction projects, like new offices for Bobi and Dr. Cat, a €50,000 makeup room, fancy “eco” doors that both heat and cool for about €100,000, and electric cars. Energy efficiency is top-notch: the air conditioners run with a hose down the hallway, there's apa (sort of), but social responsibility? Nowhere to be seen. In other words, everything you'd expect from a credible public broadcaster.

Once it’s all patched together, maybe then there’ll be some money left to raise the salary of the average journalist, someone with 20 years of experience who still can’t earn the national average at Raonić’s public service. It’s well known in the country’s public finance circles: Raonić had the highest salary in the country; his assistants earn more than ministers, and Drljević’s income, as reported to the Anti-Corruption Agency, looks like something you’d find on a bulletin board in a high school.

Dr. Veselin, it turns out, gets a regular paycheck from the State, from the ministries (also the State), from RTCG (the State in a third form), and from the Journalists’ Association. The man’s a doctor, plain and simple.

Plagiarist Doctor – Plagiarized Building

Veselin also explained that the famous apartment building, where units were supposedly distributed, doesn’t exist because it never passed technical inspection. It will exist... in July... complete with mulberry trees. What the associate professor didn’t mention is that the building was originally supposed to be completed in June last year, according to one of the sparkling tenders issued by Raonić’s administration. Nor did he mention that the delay should trigger penalty fees. But as the doc might say: “one hand washes the other”, to the tune of €170,000. Two tiny attic apartments. Not bad, huh?

Or maybe they’ll just forgive the delay, the same way the assistant director for technology conveniently forgot a few things during the digitalization process. Half a million, give or take. Vegas matters. Everything else is just detail.

Raonić on the Hunt for a Compliant Union

As RTCG literally falls apart as an institution, Raonić is busy trying to cobble together a collective agreement that would give him a shred of legitimacy. To do that, he’s dismantling one union, whose president he used to shut down a second union, while quietly helping set up a third. The plan? Fill it with the usual party-switchers and whoever his assistants, editors, supervisors, and drivers can scoop up in the hallways.

If it weren’t so absurd, it could pass for a burlesque, one that even The Farm, Zadruga, the Serbian parliament, or Jelena Nedović’s Administrative Committee couldn’t top in the ratings.

And yet, tragic undertones tint the whole affair green, Zeta and Spuž green.

On the housing allocation list drafted by the Council and its commission, there are at least eight individuals who received approvals from the illegitimate Raonić himself. None of them were at RTCG when the housing project began. Among them: the illegal director of TVCG, a roaming war and parliamentary reporter who somehow makes time for Gradska, a corporate manager who buys whatever he's told, a rookie from the football pitch, and the wife of a contractor whose workers have overrun RTCG.

From Raonić’s inner circle, the only one who didn’t get a flat is an analyst who regularly appears in primetime to share deep thoughts and bold theories, then spends the day repainting RTCG’s walls. Or maybe we’re just too wicked to recognize a true Renaissance spirit?

The Consequences and Tactics of Don Mišo

While Bobi and Dr. Catbulk up the brutal bureaucracy and kick back watching The Shawshank Redemption (training material for leadership and rule of law, no doubt), Don Mišo is quietly preparing to become caliph in Raonić’s place.

That’s how a columnist for RTCG’s own portal, brought in by Don Mišo himself, referred to him in a Facebook post. A subtle message to boss Raonić that Don Mišo’s ties to embassies, a local duke, and a certain tycoon DPS minister (conveniently exempt from the “highlight and argue” treatment of one assistant’s pet programming projects) are looking much more reliable than Raonić’s already-worn-out connections.

The caliph’s right-hand man rose to fame on stories that revealed nothing but managed to distract from others. Some say he might calm things down? After all, his CV claims he’s a manager of... something earned in Belgrade. Under murky circumstances, quite late, and apparently via Leposavić?

This summer’s going to be long and hot. The outgoing crew overplayed their hand. RTCG is no longer what it once was... Raonić and Drljević won’t be seen near public office again.

As for the rest, cheers to the non-paper!

And to the (quotation marks not needed anymore) independent prosecutor’s office.
